Katy Perry is facing scrutiny in Spain following the unauthorized filming of her latest music video, “Lifetimes,” on the Balearic Islands. This comes on the heels of the rocky release of her single “Woman’s World,” which has already stirred controversy.
The environmental department of the Balearic regional government has launched an investigation into the incident after it was discovered that the production company behind the video did not secure the required permits to film in the protected dunes at Ses Salines Natural Park. This area, particularly the dune system of s’Espalmador, is a highly sensitive ecosystem with significant ecological importance.
While other scenes for the “Lifetimes” video were shot across various beaches, clubs, and cities in the region, the unauthorized use of the dunes has raised concerns about potential environmental damage.
In response to criticism of “Woman’s World,” Perry claimed the song was meant to be satirical. Her upcoming album, 143, produced in collaboration with the controversial Dr. Luke, is slated for release on September 20th.
This investigation adds another layer of controversy to Perry’s current projects, with potential repercussions for her and the production team involved.
