Kacey Musgraves had to put her foot down—and almost her earrings—during a recent concert in Tampa, Florida. The Grammy-winning country-pop star called out a fan who aggressively grabbed at her arm during her performance at Amalie Arena on Friday night, describing the incident as nearly escalating to “Texas serious.”
“She kind of ruined it for everybody,” Musgraves said at her Hollywood, Florida show the next night, referencing the previous evening’s incident. “I thought I was going to have to get real East Texas on her, take off my earrings. Florida goes hard.”
The Incident: “What the F—?”
Fan-captured footage from the Tampa concert shows the singer visibly startled as she stopped mid-performance. “What the f—?” she exclaimed, adding, “Jesus f—ing Christ!” before resuming her set. Musgraves later expressed her frustration, making it clear she expects boundaries to be respected at her shows.
A Growing Trend of Disruptive Fans
Musgraves’ encounter adds to a string of recent incidents where fans have crossed the line at concerts. Just last week:
Zach Bryan: The country star stopped his show in Tacoma, Washington, after an audience member threw an object that struck one of his on-stage guests. “Don’t throw s—t at concerts,” Bryan sternly warned, urging the crowd to identify the culprit.
Wiz Khalifa: While performing at Rolling Loud Thailand, Khalifa was interrupted when a fan threw stacks of cash on stage. “Stop throwing money on the stage. I’m not a stripper, dog,” he quipped, demanding an end to the behavior before continuing.
Musgraves Keeps Touring
Despite the disruption, Musgraves shows no signs of slowing down. She is set to perform tonight (Dec. 2) at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, as she continues to bring her blend of country charm and pop polish to fans across the Sunshine State.
A Reminder for Concertgoers
These incidents underline the importance of respecting artists’ space during performances. While passionate fans are essential to live shows, crossing boundaries can disrupt the experience for everyone—and occasionally provoke sharp responses from the stars themselves.
