June 16th will be Buster Keaton Day in Los Angeles, honoring one of the pioneers of comedy in the golden years of Hollywood, Buster Keaton. There will be a bronze plaque at the exact location of the movie studio Charlie Chaplin Buster Keaton worked, creating the comedies that shaped film, at the intersection of 1021 Lillian Avenue and Eleanor Avenue.
Buster Keaton starred in the early days of silent film which included ‘The Cameraman,’ ‘Sherlock Jr.’ and ‘The General.’ His first production, ‘The Butcher’ in 1917 with co-star Fatty Arbuckle, kicked off an incredible career in front and behind the camera, spanning over 30 years until his last project ‘She’s Oil Mine’ in 1941.
Scheduled to appear are Los Angele’s Mitch O’Farrell from the city, Leonard Maltin historian, and living members of Keaton’s family. June 16th is Buster Keaton Day in Los Angeles, honoring one of the greatest stars Hollywood has ever produced.
