Jennie Garth, known for her role in Beverly Hills, 90210, has revealed that she underwent two hip replacement surgeries—one at 48 and another this year at 52. In a candid interview with Self on Sept. 12, Garth admitted she had been hesitant to share her story but decided it was time to speak openly.
“I kept it a secret for so long, but I’m no longer in a place where I want to hide things,” Garth said. She explained that her hip pain had plagued her for years, likely caused by osteoarthritis, a condition that runs in her family. Despite trying to push through, a painful family ski trip was the turning point that led her back to the doctor, where a hip replacement was recommended.
Her first surgery was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but she used the quiet lockdown period to recover in private. “I felt like the Bionic Woman afterward—there was nothing I couldn’t do,” she recalled.
When her right hip began to worsen earlier this year, Garth knew another replacement was necessary. The second recovery has been slower, but she’s focused on healing and staying active, sharing her journey to inspire others.
“Getting older brings changes, but don’t be afraid of them,” Garth said. “It’s part of who you are moving forward.”
