Jackson Browne the Everyman – Part Two

Jackson Browne is back on the road, and fondly remembered Glenn Frey in Glenn’s untimely death las month. It’s an excuse to share more fun facts from one of our favorite singers and activists. Here are our favorite Jackson Browne songs.

“Running on Empty” was a song used by then Presidential candidate John McCain as an attack ad against Barak Obama. Jackson sued to have the campaign cease and desist.

“Somebody’s Baby” was a cute ditty used in Cameron Crowe’s ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ movie. “The Pretender” is dedicated to anyone that has lost sight of their dreams, again Jackson’s desire to touch the everyman. Again David Crosby and Graham Nash appear on the song, with the piano by Toto’s Jeff Porcaro.

Without the hit single “Doctor My Eyes,” we might not know who Jackson was. This popular song is about man’s disappointment and struggle in everyday life. David Crosby and Graham Nash were also on the song.
