At their recent New Zealand concert on January 20, the Foo Fighters treated fans to an electrifying surprise as Jack Black, the renowned actor and Tenacious D frontman, joined them on stage. The crowd was thrilled as Black, alongside Dave Grohl and the rest of the band, delivered a spirited rendition of AC/DC’s classic, “Big Balls”. Adding to the uniqueness of the performance, the Foos’ drum tech, Fiona, also contributed her vocals to the song, reprising her role from the band’s 2023 Australian tour.
The stars aligned for this musical collaboration as Black is currently in New Zealand working on the highly anticipated Minecraft movie. This surprise appearance added an extra layer of excitement to the Foo Fighters’ ongoing tour in New Zealand, with two more shows lined up in the country.
Fans in the United States can look forward to catching Foo Fighters live as they return for several one-off shows and festival appearances, including the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Shaky Knees, before embarking on a comprehensive stadium tour in July. This tour follows the release of their latest album, “But Here We Are”, which debuted in June 2023, adding to their already impressive discography. This unique collaboration between Black and Foo Fighters exemplifies the band’s reputation for unforgettable live performances and their ability to blend rock genres seamlessly.
