According to ultimateclassicrock.com, Iron Maiden had a Spitfire replica plane that malfunctioned during their set closing performance of “Aces High.” The song in the past opened the band’s set but now it closes it. The performance of the track features a 90% scale replica of a Spitfire, single seat fighter aircraft used by the Royal Air Force during World War II. Normally the Spitfire floats above the band during their performance, however, during Tuesday’s performance at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., the plane got stuck on its way to the front of the stage. Fan video showed the wings failing to fully extend and the plane just hovered awkwardly towards the back of the stage before crew members deflated it and hid it from view.
The Legacy of the beast World Tour will end on October 27th in Tamps. iron Maiden is set to get rolling on the Future Past Tour that will highlight 2021’s Senjutsu along with Somewhere in Time, in June of 2023.
