Indiana Fever’s Championship Potential: Is Pace the Secret Weapon?

Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides may not be eager to discuss championships just yet, but fans can’t help speculating after the team’s recent success. “We can talk about championships in three or four years,” Sides said last summer. At that time, Indiana hadn’t yet won the draft lottery or selected Caitlin Clark, a generational talent, nor had Aliyah Boston claimed her Rookie of the Year trophy.

Fast forward to today, and the Fever are in a completely different position. The team clinched their first playoff spot since 2016, snapping the longest postseason drought in league history. Now sitting in the No. 6 seed, the Fever are making a late-season push, boasting a 6-1 record since the All-Star break.

Their rapid offensive surge is a major factor, with Indiana leading the league in scoring (91.4 ppg) and 3-point percentage (38.9%). The backcourt duo of Clark and Kelsey Mitchell has been unstoppable, with both players averaging over 24 points per game. As Lexie Hull improves from the 3-point line, the Fever have become one of the league’s most dangerous offensive teams.

While traditionally top-seeded teams dominate the playoffs, the Fever’s fast-paced, relentless offense could disrupt expectations, making them a serious contender for a deep postseason run.
