Hugh Jackman Agrees with Martha Stewart: ‘Ryan Reynolds Isn’t So Funny!’

In a hilarious twist to their longstanding feud, Hugh Jackman recently sided with Martha Stewart in a lighthearted exchange involving Ryan Reynolds. The 83-year-old lifestyle mogul playfully threw shade at Reynolds during her guest appearance on Bilt Rewards’ “November Rent Free” game show, claiming that Reynolds, 48, isn’t “so funny in real life.” Reynolds, known for his quick wit, soon responded on X (formerly Twitter), quipping, “I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.”

Seizing the moment, Jackman, 56, who has kept up an ongoing banter with Reynolds for years, jumped into the fray. Commenting on Reynolds’ post, Jackman took Stewart’s side, writing, “Finally someone says it.”

Fans of Jackman and Reynolds know that their “feud” is as iconic as it is long-running, with both stars frequently taking playful jabs at each other. The rivalry traces back to Reynolds’ marriage to Scarlett Johansson from 2008 to 2011. Jackman, a close friend of Johansson’s, recalls playfully grilling Reynolds on set, saying, “Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching.” According to Jackman, what started as a joke on set turned into an ongoing tradition, later amplified by their social media back-and-forth over Reynolds’ role as Deadpool and Jackman’s iconic portrayal of Wolverine.

Although their feud is all in good fun, the two regularly show their true friendship, often accompanied by a generous dose of humor. Just last month, both stars posted affectionate birthday tributes to each other. Reynolds kicked things off, sharing a heartwarming Instagram post with a carousel of photos and the caption, “I hope we get to do this til we’re 90. Happy Birthday, @thehughjackman. A lot of years. A lot of adventures.” Jackman returned the favor days later, posting his own tribute on Instagram to celebrate Reynolds’ birthday, cheekily honoring Reynolds’ mother instead, writing, “On this day we celebrate Tammy… for delivering Ryan. 🎂 🎉.”

While Jackman’s latest commentary may fuel their comedic “beef” with Reynolds a bit longer, the two actors continue to make it clear that their friendship is as genuine as it is entertaining. And with Stewart joining in, fans might just be treated to even more banter between this celebrity trio in the future.
