He never starred on the nationally popular ‘SNL,’ series, didn’t appear in the movies ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ or ‘Trading Places,’ nor did he ever win a Golden Globe award, but in his own right Charlie Murphy, Eddie’s brother, had his own slice of fame and fortune.
Charlie Murphy, Eddie’s older brother, lost his battle with Leukemia this week at the age of 57, and Hollywood took notice. Charlie appeared in movies like ‘Night at the Museum,’ ‘Lottery Ticket’ and ‘Jungle Fever.’ Charlie will be best remembered for his work on the Dave Chappelle comedy series, playing various characters with grit and humor.
Dave Chappelle remembered Charlie as a truly talented comedian with impeccable timing, saying that he and everyone who knew him is heartbroken he’s gone. Singer and guitar virtuoso John Mayer spoke glowingly of Charley whom he befriended a few years ago, as did his fellow acting ensemble from the Dave Chappelle show.
