Hip-Hop Legend DJ Kay Slay Dies of Covid at 55

Keith Grayson, AKA DJ Kay Slay, has died of complications from COVID-19. He was 55.

“A dominant figure in hip-hop culture with millions of fans worldwide, DJ Kay Slay will be remembered for his passion and excellence with a legacy that will transcend generations,” a statement confirmed by the hip-hop icon’s family stated.

DJ Kay Slay worked with an endless list of big names in rap and hip-hop throughout his career, including Nas, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar, and many others. He released his first studio album The Streetsweeper, Vol 1 in 2003.

“Hot 97 is shocked and saddened by the loss of our beloved DJ Kay Slay,” the station where DJ Kay Slay hosted The Drama Hour said in a statement.
