Heart – Our Sisters of Rock and Roll

Nancy Wilson has been on tour this summer with Bob Seger, but it’s not been all peaches and cream for the ladies. Ann Wilson’s husband Dean Stuart Wetter was arrested last year for assault, while the Wilson family contemplates another Heart tour given the tension created by Dean last year.

One of the early ‘founding sisters’ of rock was Ann and Nancy Wilson, the co-founders of the Northwest-based super-group Heart. The Wilson sisters were the daughters of a Marine Corps Captain based in Seattle WA and learned to play the guitar, bass, keyboard, and more. Nancy also learned to play the flute. After college, the girls decided to go for broke and formed Heart which moved to Vancouver as a base of operations.

Heart has sold over 35 million records, has been nominated for a Grammy 10 times, has hit the top 40 with 20 singles, and has hit the album top 10 seven times.

In 1986 Nancy married Rolling Stone writer and Hollywood author/producer Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Jerry McGuire) divorcing in 2010.
