Growing Pains Dad, Alan Thicke is Gone

Alan Thicke, one of television’s most endearing fathers has died in Los Angeles at the age of 69. Alan had been on the ice playing hockey with his youngest song Carter when he felt terribly ill, began to vomit, then collapsed. Alan never regained consciousness, being pronounced dead at Providence Saint Joseph Medic al Center in Burbank.

Alan had been in the entertainment business for nearly 50 years, having written for early shows like “Fernwood 2-Night” and “The Richard Pryor Show.” He was a songwriter as well, having penned the theme song for the popular TV shows “Wheel of Fortune,” “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts Of Life.”

His claim to fame was indeed the result of the TV show “Growing Pains” where he played a role that was born for him, the dry conservative character of Jason Seaver. Alan Thicke had been married three times, once to soap star Gloria Loring, and is survived by three sons including “Blurred Lines” singing star Robin Thicke. Rest in Peace Alan Thicke
