Movies and music are great together. How many times do you hear one of your favorite songs in or at the end of a film? Well we’re here to help you remember all these classic song and movie connections from years past. Here is part one of ‘Great Songs in Great Movies’ list.
“Twist and Shout” by The Beatles in the classic movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was beautifully used in the parade scene. Matthew Broderick did a wonderful lip sync job as well.
“I Heard it Through the Grapevine” by the late Marvin Gaye (along with many others to name) was all throughout the movie The Big Chill, with all our favorite actors.
The song “Power of Love” by relatively unknown Huey Lewis and The News was written for the movie Back to the Future. Here’s the backstory… The producers liked the song, but were disappointed that it didn’t feature the name of the movie, so they made Huey go back into the studio and record “Back in Time” which also didn’t feature the name of the movie. Frustrated, the studio sent telegrams to all the radio stations days before the release of the single, reminding them it was from the “Back to the Future” movie.
