Gotta Love Those Staple Singers

It’s about time we spent time talking about one of the greatest soul families and bands of all time, and no we’re not talking about the Jackson or Motown family.

The Staples Singers were, in fact, a family from Chicago, and much like the Jackson family, it had a patriarch, Pops Staples. Other family members included Cleotha, Pervis, Mavis (who is currently touring with Bob Dylan) and Yvonne. “Respect Yourself,” “”I’ll Take You There,” “If You’re Ready (Come Go with Me),” and “Let’s Do It Again,” got you off the dance floor while selling millions of records.

The Staples Singers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Unfortunately, Pops died in 2000, while Cleotha passed away in 2013.
