Google Watch Gets an Update

Google is set to release a new system update called the “H Update” to its “Wear Operating System (OS)” with features like the battery saver, body efficiency and smart app resume. The new system update, labeled “System Version: H,” should appear on your device sometime in the next few months.

The “H Update” features a new battery saver mode for Android-based smart-watches that would turn on “Battery Saver” to only display the time once your battery falls below 10 per cent. Additionally, after 30 minutes of inactivity your watch will shift to “deep sleep mode” to further conserve the battery.

Also included is a new 2-step power off functionality that would enable users to turn off their watches by holding the power button until they see the power off screen, at which point they can choose to either “power off” or “restart.” And the fresh “Smart App Resume” update allows users to pick up where they left off across all apps on their watches.

Google advises that while the update will be progressively rolling out over the coming months, some functionality “may vary by device,” and some devices may not immediately be eligible. Device eligibility will be determined by your watch manufacturer.  So you may want to contact your manufacturer and see where you are on the “watch list.”
