Getting to Know Oscar Nominee Sally Hawkins

The 90’s Academy Awards Oscar nominations were announced, with ‘The Shape of Water’ receiving a tremendous amount of attention, earning 13 nominations including Best Actress for actress Sally Hawkins. Sally is British, her film debut in the production of ‘All or Nothing’ in 2002, starring in subsequent roles in the films ‘Paddington,’ ‘Godzilla,’ and her first big film break in ‘Mirror, Mirror’ in 1996.

Sally has also appeared on Broadway in October of 2010, starring in Mrs. Warren’s Profession, and has a great deal of television work in Man to Man with Dean Learner, H G Wells: War with the World and The Hollow Crown.

Sally is now 41, and in the film ‘The Shape of Water’ she delivers an Oscar-worthy performance as a mute cleaning lady Elisa, working at a government research facility in the 1950s. Sally is the dark horse for the Oscar in ‘Best Actress,’ but may win the honor.
