Get Ready for Foldable Phones

Do you miss your old flip phone? Just kidding.  But if you love all the apps and doo-dads that come with the smart phones, but find they’re ever-increasing size is just making them cumbersome to carry around, your solution may have just arrived.

Samsung has just unveiled their new “foldable phone technology” with the company’s “infinity Flex Display.” The phone itself has a tablet-sized screen that can actually be folded up to fit nicely into a pocket and back out into a tablet. So the device includes both a cover display that acts as a phone along with the main 7.3-inch tablet display.

And if that weren’t enough to get your tech senses tingling, with the “multi-active window,” up to three apps will be able to run simultaneously. Samsung says it should be able to start mass production of the Infinity Flex Display in “a matter of months,” and Google is also officially supporting the new technology with Android, working closely with Samsung for the launch next year.

Other phone makers racing to be the first out of the gate with their own foldable devices are Lenovo, Xiaomi, LG, Huawei and Microsoft is working on a multiscreen, pocketable Surface device.

So hold onto your hats and glasses, and get ready to fold that phone!
