Just last week we talked about how Finding Dory, the latest box office leader, had a huge weekend and one to remember. This weekend we have seen more of the same with the movie continuing its reign as the number one movie at the box office. It is expect to reach almost $75 million in sales this weekend, which would bring the movie to about $280 million in the United States in just two weeks. Its worldwide sales would be just below $400 million if the projections remain true.
Coming in second this weekend was “Independence Day: Resurgence,” which brought in just over $40 million. It too was a sequel, but this one has disappointed. With the cost of making the movie totaling $165 million, we could see some unhappy movie executives pretty soon.
