Keeping It In the Family – Part One

They say you can pick your friends but you can’t pick your relatives. Having a family business is part of the American entrepreneur’s dream, and building a company or brand side by side with a brother or sister can be both rewarding and difficult.

In rock however, we’ve come to learn that having a brother or sister in the band can be too hot to handle. Here’s part one of our two day look at this interesting topic…

Yes the Cowsills and the Osmond families were families that were groomed to be entertainers. Both had great success in the 60s and 70s.

Van Halen, Eddie & Alex Van Halen, were actually born in the Netherlerlands, starting early while growing up in Pasadena, Calif. The boy’s first band was called ‘The Broken Combs’ in early 1970s.

The Black Crowes, Chris & Rich Robinson, grew up in Marietta, Georgia in the 80s. Although talented, they really hated each other as brotherly fights on and off stage have nearly killed the band many times over.

Toto, Jeff and Mike Pocaro, grew up in the same household and rocked their way to fame and fortune. That’s it for day one. Who do you think we will talk about on day two?
