AC/DC’s guitarist Malcolm Young passed away last week, becoming the second Young brother to die this year. George Young the band’s producer and longtime supporter of the band died October 22nd, leaving Angus the remaining Young in the AC/DC family. It’s been a long road for Malcolm, retiring from the touring portion of the band a few years ago after being diagnosed with dementia.
Malcolm was only 29 when he and Angus started AC/DC, a name that came from a sticker on his older sisters sewing machine. Malcolm was a street fighter, having the tenacity and strength to beat the bottle; he missed an entire tour in 1988 to put himself in rehab to turn his life around.
Friends and family will gather for an official goodbye tonight, Malcolm November 28 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, and yes the ceremony will be private for dear friends and family only.
