According to 12newsnow.com, in Beaumont, Texas an event will be held in order to help teach safety and self defense to teens. “Nurse Shonda” ( Shonda Armstrong), a nurse from Orange, and Beaumont’s Tiger Rock Martial Arts have decided to partner up in order to help teach young girls how to defend themselves in case they are ever a victim of any kind of assault. According to findings from the National Violence Against Women Survey, women are more likely than men to be injured during an assault, furthermore, more than 64% of women that have experienced some sort of assault by the age of 18 were assaulted by their significant other. The event, named “Girl Power – Safety and self-defense for teens,” will occur on Saturday at the Tiger Rock Martial Arts in Beaumont at 3803 Calder Avenue, from 2-4 P.M.
