End of the Week Music Headlines

Let’s get to some music news headlines…

A Los Angeles jury a few weeks ago awarded iconic producer Quincy Jones $9.4 million in royalties, earlier withheld by the estate of Michael Jackson. That’s a nice chunk of change, but a lot less than the $30 million he had requested be paid.

In late 70s disco craze, a new singer emerged with a song appearing on the legendary ‘Saturday Night Fever’ LP and in the movie called “If I Don’t Have You.” Her name is Yvonne Elliman. Sadly, she’s made the news again, as she and her husband were arrested in Guam two weeks ago and charged with drug possession. The two were released on bond but must remain in Guam until the legal process works its way through the courts.

There are two landmarks that have made the news, with ties to great music stars. In Folsom, California, be sure to take the Johnny Cash Trail when it opens in mid-October, and in Seattle, visit Jimi Hendrix Park which opened in July.
