Elton John Set To Perform At White House For A Special Event

According to billboard.com, Elton John is scheduled to appear at the White House on Friday, September 23rd, for a special night and a performance in collaboration with A&E Networks and The History Channel that is titled, “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme.” The event will have John performing for an audience of 2,000 invited guests at the White House’s South lawn that is meant to “celebrate the unifying and healing power of music, commend the life and work of Sir Elton John, and honor the everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates and more.”

According to the network itself, a representative for the White House explained that John had “expressed an interest on his behalf in playing again at the White House.” With the singer being invited in the past to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue back in 1998 to perform for President Bill Clinton at a dinner for former British prime Minister Tony Blair. President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will be in attendance on Friday and are set to make comments during the event, however, it is not clear what exactly they will be addressing.

On September 24th, John is also scheduled to perform a concert as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour at Washington D.C.’s Nationals Park. The tour will continue to run through the rest of 2022 with stops in major cities such as Nashville, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Houston, and others.
