Elton John recently took to social media to share that he’s recovering from a serious eye infection that left him temporarily blind in one eye. The 77-year-old music legend posted a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the infection significantly affected his vision.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” John wrote on Instagram. “While I’m healing, the process is slow, and it will take time for full sight to return.”
Following the post, many celebrities offered their support. Tennis icon Billie Jean King commented, “Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend,” while fashion designer Donatella Versace added, “Sending you so much love, Elton! Feel better soon. Love you.”
John’s health has been in the spotlight in recent years. In 2023, he was briefly hospitalized after slipping at his villa in Nice, France. Additionally, in 2021, he underwent hip surgery following another fall, which delayed some dates of his farewell tour.
The “Rocket Man” singer officially retired from touring in July 2023, after concluding his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour.
