Edie Falco Earns Emmy Nomination, Catches Fire in Hollywood

The 70th Emmy nominations were recently announced, and in the category of Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, Edie Falco received a nomination for her work on the NBC “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” a limited series that ran over a 9-week schedule. If Edie wins the Emmy, she will be the 7th actor or actress from the celebrated ‘Law and Order’ franchise to earn such an honor. The other seven are Mariska Hargitay, Amanda Plummer, the late Elaine Stritch, New York Governor candidate Cynthia Nixon, legendary actress Ann-Margret, and Ellen Burstyn.

Edie hit the big time with the HBO series ‘The Sopranos’ from 1999 to 2007, but has contributed a great deal of work in films like ‘The Comedian’ ‘Sunshine State’ and ‘Random Hearts.’ She is one of the few actresses to ever sweep the top three television awards. She’s a cancer survivor (breast cancer in 2004) and will appear in two films, ‘The Land of Steady Habit’s scheduled to be released in 2018, and ‘Vulture Club’ currently in post-production with a release date in 2019.
