Eddie Murphy Revives Iconic Role in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Coming Summer 2024

Eddie Murphy, at 62, is set to reprise his iconic role as Detective Axel Foley in the upcoming “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” The film, which marks the latest chapter in the classic action-comedy franchise, sees Foley “back on the beat in Beverly Hills.” The eagerly awaited trailer teases a plot where Foley joins forces with his daughter (Taylour Paige), a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and old friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to unravel a conspiracy threatening his daughter’s life.

The original “Beverly Hills Cop” in 1984 catapulted Murphy to international fame with his portrayal of a Detroit detective with unorthodox methods and sharp wit. The upcoming film promises to retain the essence of Axel Foley while reflecting the wisdom of his age. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Molloy emphasize that Murphy’s improvisational skills bring out some of the film’s funniest moments.

Murphy, reflecting on the physical demands of an action movie at his age, acknowledges the challenges but assures fans of a thrilling experience. The cast also includes Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon. Netflix is set to release “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” in summer 2024, offering a nostalgic yet fresh take on a beloved character.
