As The Drew Barrymore Show gears up for its fifth season premiere this fall, the beloved host is already celebrating the news of an early renewal for season six. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Barrymore humorously admitted that maintaining physical distance on set will be a challenge for her when she returns to the studio.
“Which is not my strong point!” Barrymore joked. “Do you know how hard the pandemic was for me? I was alone in a studio by myself! I love being around people.” While her affectionate approach may not be for everyone, Barrymore remains unapologetic, saying, “I’m sorry to those people.”
Barrymore is known for creating a cozy, intimate atmosphere on her show, often getting close with her celebrity guests, holding hands, and engaging in heartfelt conversations. As season five approaches, premiering on September 9 on CBS, she promises more of the joy, laughter, and warmth that have become her show’s trademarks. “That was something I’ve always wanted to do. I never thought we’d launch during the pandemic,” Barrymore reflected.
CBS recently announced the early renewal of Barrymore’s talk show through the 2025-26 season, with upgraded time slots in six markets starting this fall. Wendy McMahon, CEO and president of CBS News and CBS Media Ventures, praised Barrymore, saying, “Drew is a one-of-a-kind talent who is an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family. This early renewal and upgrades are a testament to our commitment to The Drew Barrymore Show and its loyal audience.”
Season four of the show featured an impressive lineup of guests, including Dua Lipa, Quinta Brunson, John Krasinski, Jean Smart, Kamala Harris, and Janet Jackson, among others. Fans can expect more feel-good moments and inspiring conversations in the upcoming season.
