Do You Remember 1978? We Do…

Paul McCartney and Wings hit the charts with “With a Little Luck,” in 1978, making us curious what other rock songs were on the charts the through 1978. Take a look at the songs that battled disco on the radio to hit the charts. You’ll also be surprised.

Gerry Rafferty broke records (pun intended) with “Baker Street” while the Stones hit the top 10 with “Miss You.” “We Will Rock You” proved to be one of the tops songs of the year, taking on a life of its own decades later. Player gave local radio stations “Baby Come Back” and Eric Clapton brought the ladies to his shows with “Wonderful Tonight.”

In the same ballad vein as Eric, Kansas offered up “Dust in the Wind” while Meat Loaf hit the charts twice in 1978 with “Two Out of Three” and “Paradise by the Dashboard.” Female rocker broke through with “Because the Night” and Bob Seger made his mark with the mid-tempo tune “Still the Same.”
