Do You Remember 1967 Like We Do?

The postage stamp was just $.05 cents, a gallon of gas was priced at $.50 cents, and “Strangers in the Night” by Frank Sinatra won the Grammy for Song of the Year. If we were to take a time machine back to this date in April of 1967, what would we hear on the radio? Here are the top 10 songs from April of 1967…

1. “I’m a Believer” The Monkees
2. “Bernadette” The Four Tops
3. “The Letter” The Box Tops
4. “Light My Fire” The Doors
5. “Windy” The Association
6. “Love is Here and Now You’re Gone” Diana Ross and the Supremes
7. “Daydream Believer” The Monkees
8. “Happy Together” The Turtles
9. “Something Stupid” Nancy Sinatra & Frank Sinatra
10. “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” Gladys Knight & The Pips (Soul)

Conclusions: As you can see, there was a great deal of diversity in popular music in 1967, in spite of the racial, anti-war, and gender troubles haunting the country.
