Dickey Betts has announced he’s coming out of retirement, and we’re thrilled to hear the news. As a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, Dickey revealed to the word that he’s one of the greatest blues, southern, rock or pop guitarist of our time; go on YouTube and find the Allman Brothers song ‘Blue Sky’ and see/hear for yourself.
In fact, Dickey wrote the Allman Brothers songs “Blue Sky,” “Ramblin’ Man,” “Jessica,” and ‘In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,’ which makes his one great songwriter as well.
Dickey (74 years old) announced his retirement a few years ago, but his son Duane and others never bought it; Dickey loves to play in front of live audiences, so it was a given he’d change his mind and begin to tour again. We’ll share the confirmed tour dates and cities for 2018 when it becomes available, so standby.
