According to ESPN.com, two year after the first civil lawsuit was filed against Deshaun Watson, disciplinary officer, Sue L. Robinson, has officially suspended the Cleveland Browns quarterback for the first six games of the 2022 season. Robinson listened to the arguments made by the league, the union, and Watson’s attorney during a three day long hearing in Delaware in June. The NFL wanted a year long suspension, while the union and Watson’s attorney argued for no suspension at all, ultimately Robinson was left to make the decision. Since March of 2021, 25 civil lawsuits have been filed against Watson ranging from inappropriate conduct to sexual assault. Watson settled on 20 of the lawsuits, and plans to settle on three of the remaining four lawsuits as one had been dropped. Back in Mid-July the Houston Texans also reached settlements with 30 women who were prepared to make claims against them for enabling Watson’s behavior. Watson still claims to be innocent in all of the cases.
