David Bowie Forever Remembered

Recently David Bowie was bestowed an honor not often given to rock stars; ‘David Bowie Tribute and 70th Birthday Celebration’ at the Double A Bowie Baysox affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles.

David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie, died January 10th, 2016, two days after the release of his last album ‘Blackstar’ a record that has earned five posthumous Grammys, one Brit Award, and high praise from his peers.

Most people don’t realize that he changed his name to David Bowie from David Robert Jones, because Davy Jones of the Monkees was stealing all the headlines, and he didn’t want to be confused with someone who is was on TV playing a rock star.

One of the early songs the truly set David apart was obviously “Space Oddity” from 1969. Man had just landed on the moon, and Major Tom was a fictional character in the song

“Dancing in the Streets” was a duet with Mick Jagger that had huge commercial success, and was released in 1985. The duet was performed at the “Live Aid” charity concert that year, and was one of David’s best charting records.
