Dave Grohl and Others Perform ‘I Love L.A.’ at Hannukkah Sessions

Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin were able to celebrate Los Angeles with tons of all star friends for the eighth clip that has been revealed for their 2022 Hanukkah Sessions concert. Groh led the way while playing drums and singing lead vocals for a cover of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” which is completed with “We Love it!” choruses from Kurstin, Jack Black, Pink, Karen O, Beck, and more.

The show included ninety songs total and was held at the Largo club in Los Angeles on December fifth. It was only the third time that he had collaborated with producer and multi instrumentalist Kurstion on a Jewish themed set of covers. The performance ended up being hosted by Judd Apatow and the profits were donated to the Anti-Defamation League.

“I Love L.A.” was released by Newman in 1983 and was originally a flop of a track failing to reach the Billboard Hot 100. Although, after some time had passed it became one of his most recognized songs and an unofficial city anthem. It has also been used in several feature films, and is regularly played at games for all Los Angeles professional sports teams.

After Grohl had has initial run of Hanukkah Sessions back in 2020, he said his exploration of the celebration had started as a silly idea but became much more important. Adding that, “It showed me that the simple gesture of spreading joy and happiness goes a long way, and as we look forward, we should all make an effort to do so, no matter how many candles are left to light on the menorah.”
