Cover Songs That Outdo the Originals

You know what it means to cover a song right? It’s when an artist records their version of a song written by someone else. More often than not the original song remains the more popular or preferred version, but here are the covers that we believe outdo the originals…

“Proud Mary” Ike and Tina Turner/C.C.R.
“I Shot the Sheriff” Eric Clapton/Bob Marley
“With a Little Help From My Friends” Joe Cocker/The Beatles
“Twist and Shout” The Beatles/Isley Brothers
“Tainted Love” Soft Cell/Gloria Jones
“Summer Breeze” Seals and Crofts/Isley Brothers
“Blinded by the Light” Manfred Mann/Bruce Springsteen
“Get Ready” Rare Earth/The Temptations
“All Along the Watchtower” Jimi Hendrix/Bob Dylan

Observations: Talk about a hit list! Often times we’re surprised to learn that the song we love was a tune written and performed by someone else. “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Summer Breeze” and “All Along the Watchtower” are songs that surprise the most fans when they are told the version they love was not the original.
