It has been reported that Texas country singer and songwriter, Jerry Jeff Walker passed away at age 78. On Friday, family spokesman John T. Davis broke the news to The Associated Press. It was said that the “Mr Bojangles” artist “had battled throat cancer for many years, and some other health issues,” Mr. Davis said Saturday.
In 1986, he formed independent music label Tried & True Music and released albums under it. In 2017, Mr. Walker was diagnosed with throat cancer, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, he told the Austin American Statesman in 2018. “I guess I took my singing for granted, and now I don’t,” he told the newspaper.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Susan, son, Django, and daughter, Jessie Jane.
