According to SavingCountryMusic.com, every three years or so the Country Music Hall of Fame installs a new major exhibit . The current major exhibit explores the Outlaw era in country music in the mid 70’s, called Outlaws and Armadillos. However a new exhibit has been announced called Wester Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country Rock, and will delve into the 1960’s to the 1980’s. The exhibit will start off with pioneers that took country influences and paired them with rock, such as, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Emmylou Harris, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Linda Ronstadt, and The Eagles. Another focus of the exhibit will be early West Coast bluegrass bands like the Kentucky Colonels and The Dillards. Lastly, there will be features of artists that came up through the West Coast punk scene, as well as bands that had a Hispanic influence. The new exhibit will be opening on September 30th, alongside a concert with Dave Alvin, from the Blasters, Rodney Dillard from the Dillards, Jeff Hanna from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and many others.
