Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Opens A Major Exhibition: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock

According to prnewswire.com, the Country Music Hallf of Fame and Museum celebrated the opening of Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock, presented by City National Bank. Their newest exhibition got started with special performances from the Watkins Family Hour and Chris Hillman. Western Edge is open for an almost three year period, with traces of Los Angeles based visionary singers, songwriters, and musicians from between the 1960’s and 1980’s who frequented local clubs, embraced country music, and created and shaped the musical fusion of country and rock. The exhibit shows the rise of the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and others who made use of a hybrid of rock and country music.

The museum’s curatorial and creative teams conducted over 40 hours of filmed interviews as well as collecting an array of artifacts to display for Western Edge, that is housed in a brand new 5,000 square foot gallery. Items that can be seen include instruments, stage costumes, manuscripts, and personal items.
