Coachella Replaces Kanye West, Travis Scott With the Weeknd, Swedish House Mafia

Coachella has officially replaced Kanye West’s headliner spot with another big name in hip-hop, The Weeknd.

The So-Cal music festival tweeted its new lineup out yesterday morning, including the switch of West and Travis Scott’s names with The Weeknd, who will now be performing with Swedish House Mafia for the final weekend of Coachella.

According to a source close to West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian, the rapper has decided to step out of the limelight. “For the sake of the kids, Kanye has told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better,” the source said.

Coachella has yet to directly address West’s exit. There has also been some speculated disagreement between the festival organizers and The Weeknd, in which the latter has reportedly threatened to pull out if he isn’t given the same $8 million (plus a $500,000 production fee) paycheck as West.

According to reports from close sources, Coachella organizers have agreed to pay The Weeknd in full, which means the show will go on.
