CJ Harris, former American Idol contestant, that finished in sixth place of Season 13, has passed away, according to reports, he was only 31 years old. Harris was a country, rock, and soul singer from Jasper, Alabama. A family member confirmed Harris’ death on Thursday, January 15th after he suffered a heart attack in his hometown of Jasper. Attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
During a get to know you video that aired during Idol Harris described himself as a talent that grew up playing football in high school and had dreams of stardom. He stated, “I wanna be somebody, I wanna be more than just a person employed at a job, working every day. he deserves more than what I’ve ever had and more than what I’ve ever seen.”
While on American Idol, Harris performed the Allman Brothers Band’s “Whipping Post” and Tom Petty’s “Free Falling.” While his final performance was a version of Zac Brown Band’s “Whatever It Is.”
Harris’ debut single, “In Love,” was released back in 2019.
