Chargers fire OC Joe Lombardi and QB coach Shane Day After Meltdown in NFL Playoff Loss to Jaguars

The Los Angeles Chargers have decided to part ways with two offensive coaches after their Super Bowl Card Weekend loss in Jacksonville. They made the announcement on Tuesday. Both Lombardi and Day both spent the past two seasons in Los Angeles and were fifth and 13th in the NFL in scoring, and fifth and eighth in the league when it comers to third down offense.

Injuries heavily affected the Chargers’ offense this season, but they still managed to finish the year as one of the leagues better units due to the play of Herbert, Ekeler and some others. However, the historic meltdown the Chargers had against the Jaguars was apparently too much and compelled the Chargers to make a change to their coaching roster. The chargers managed to lose despite having a 27-0 lead at one point in the game. Herbert will now have his third coordinator in four years in the NFL, with Frank reich and Kliff Kingbury as possible options to replace Lombardi.
