On Tuesday, the Argentina parade celebrating the World Cup champions was ended short due to a chaotic scene of fans flooding the streets on Buenos Aires, the country’s capital. Fans wanted to witness the celebration that hasn’t happened since 1986. Video of the event showed supporters were jumping from a bride in order to try to get onto the bus with the players. It got bad enough that security told them to fly out of the parade via helicopter due to safety concerns.
Gabriela Cerruti, the spokesperson for President Alberto Fernández , wrote via social media, “The world champions are flying over the whole route on helicopters because it was impossible to continue by land due to the explosion of people’s happiness.”
The Argentine Football Association head Claudio Tapia blamed law enforcement for a change to the parade’s plan. He stated, “The same security organisms that were escorting us are not allowing us to move forward, I apologize in the name of all the champion players.”
Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappe, battled all the way through penalty shootouts in order for Argentina to win 4-2. Messi scored twice, once on a penalty kick and another coming in extra time to give Argentina a 3-2 lead. Mbappe scored twice in order to tie the match and force extra time, before burying his second penalty kick to tie it again at three a piece. In Conclusion, big saves from goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for Argentina, and nor Argentine player missing their penalty kicks, got Messi a World Cup Victory with his country.
