Carrie Underwood and her label (at the time of the song in question) are being sued for allegedly stealing a song from Canadian songwriters Georgia Lyons and Ron McNeill. At the crux of the legal action is the song “”Something in the Water.”
As the story goes, the two pitched Carries’ management team the exact same song a few years ago, but never heard back on next steps, or if Carrie was going to record it. Sure enough (the two claim) the same song appeared out of thin air – now they seek justice for what they consider infringement and theft.
We’ll be keeping our eye on this story as it unfolds and will be letting you know of any updates there may be!
