On Friday morning, April 19th, Carly Rae Jepsen unveiled yet another chapter from her upcoming Dedicated album with a new, low-key dance jam “Julien.”
The pop star took to Twitter to announce the release. She wrote, “Julien is the song that taught me the heart and direction of this album. Couldn’t keep him for myself any longer.” That being said, if you pre-order Dedicated, which is due out on May 17th, now you can get a download of “Julien” right away.
“Woke up this mornin’, it feels like everyday/ I got the blues, babe, not going away/ Another bad dream when you were running away/ I’m forever haunted by our time,” she sings in a clipped tone over a spare, glitchy keyboard riff and a clean, robotic dance beat. “Julien, in your heart, yeah, you must believe/ Julien, it was more than a fantasy/ To the end, through the last breath that I breathe/ I’ll be whispering ‘Julien,'” she add on the chorus as the tune bursts into a full-on roller disco jam.
Although the album isn’t out yet, fans have had a taste of whats to come. So far we’ve heard “Party for One,” “Now That I Found You” and “No Drug Like Me” from Jepsen’s eagerly awaited follow-up to 2015’s Emotion album.
