Country singer Carly Pearce has revealed a significant health update that may impact her upcoming live performances. The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” artist took to social media to share that she has been diagnosed with pericarditis, a heart condition characterized by swelling and irritation of the pericardium, the thin tissue surrounding the heart.
“Hey y’all, I have always been transparent and honest about every part of my life, so I feel like this deserves the same honesty,” Pearce said in her Instagram video on Thursday. “You guys know that I’ve been dealing with some health issues and through that, I have developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart issue.”
Pericarditis can cause sharp chest pain, and Pearce has been working closely with her doctors and cardiologist to manage the condition. Despite the challenges, she is determined to continue performing.
“I still want to be out on the road; it’s really important to me,” she continued. “But we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I am healing to alter my shows a little bit.”
Pearce, currently touring with Tim McGraw on his “Standing Room Only” tour, resumed performances in Toledo, Ohio, after a 12-day break. While the exact modifications to her shows remain unspecified, she assured fans that her commitment to performing remains strong.
“So, if my shows look a little bit different, just know it’s because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now,” she explained. “It doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be completely fine, it just means right now I’ve gotta really take this seriously.”
Pearce also used the opportunity to encourage her fans to prioritize their health. “Truly, more importantly, if any of you are dealing with any kind of health stuff, or aren’t – I’m a young, healthy person that really watches what I eat and exercises and this happened to me,” she emphasized. “So, I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it.”
The tour with McGraw, which began in March, will continue through June with Pearce as a special guest on all remaining dates. Despite the health scare, Pearce remains optimistic and grateful for the opportunity to share the stage with a country music legend.
“Tim McGraw is one of those artists that you forget how many decades he has had hits and has been successful and continues to elevate,” she told media outlets. “It’s such a joy for me… to be able to be on tour with one of the pioneers… and he is the sweetest, kindest, most humble, genuine person.”
Pearce’s resilience and dedication to her craft, even in the face of health challenges, continue to inspire her fans and peers alike.
