Carly Pearce Defends Herself After Onstage Heckler Incident: “Stand Up for Yourself”

Carly Pearce recently addressed the backlash she faced after telling a heckler to “get the f— out of my show” during her performance at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, last month. The 34-year-old country star called out a disruptive fan and had him removed from the audience, sparking criticism over her choice of words.

Speaking in an interview, Pearce revealed that even her mother, Jackie Slusser, was among those who disapproved of her language. “My mom was like, ‘You didn’t have to use that word,’ and I understand,” Pearce said. However, she stood by her actions, explaining that artists pour their hearts into every performance and sometimes need to defend themselves.

Pearce also noted the double standard women face in the music industry, sharing that male performers often get away with such behavior, while women are criticized for standing up for themselves. “The boys do it, and it’s cool. But if I do it, it’s seen as disrespectful,” she remarked.

Ultimately, Pearce believes in speaking up against disrespect, whether online or in person. “If you don’t want to hear me sing, go get a beer. I don’t care—I don’t want you here,” she concluded.

The heated moment was captured on video, with the crowd cheering as Pearce firmly addressed the heckler.
