Yes, nuts have fat and calories, which is probably why they are just so darn tasty, but they also pack such a powerful nutritional punch that they can actually help with your battle of the bulge.
In a study of over 125,000 adult men and women presented by the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2018, held in Chicago, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found that subjects who opted for a daily one-ounce serving of any type of nut over the same amount of calories from low nutrition foods had a lower risk of long-term weight gain and obesity. And that means any type of nut – including macadamias, peanuts, and even nut butters.
Now, before you snuggle down in front of the TV with a jar of peanut butter and a spoon, read between the lines. You get to eat nuts, yes, but get rid of the greasy chips, processed meats and candy. And getting exercise, drinking water, and following other healthy guidelines are still important to overall health and wellness. But go on, get nutty with it!
