Camila Cabello Reflects on Losing Her Virginity to Matthew Hussey: “It Was Beautiful”

Camila Cabello has opened up about losing her virginity to her first real boyfriend, relationship coach Matthew Hussey, describing the experience as “beautiful.” The singer, now 27, shared intimate details of her romance with Hussey, now 36, on the latest episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

Cabello recounted their first meeting on the set of the TODAY show in February 2018. “I was outside where they have the TV with the scripts,” she recalled. “I had actually listened to his podcast before as a fan because he had, like, a dating podcast.” She enthusiastically introduced herself, telling Hussey, “Oh my God. I’m such a big fan,” and they went out to dinner that same night.

Reflecting on the relationship, Cabello explained that it was her first serious romance and came later than she had anticipated. “That was my first relationship. It was late for my first time,” she said, noting that she was 20 years old and often felt lonely before meeting Hussey. “I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’ve never had a boyfriend.’ There were, like, literally eight songs that were basically about being lonely.”

When Shepard asked if she had been sexually active before 20, Cabello responded, “No. That was my first time having sex. First lovemaking was at 20, 21. … It was literally lovemaking. It was beautiful.”

Cabello credited Hussey’s background as a relationship coach for making him an excellent partner. “He was a really great person. It was like the perfect first relationship,” she said. “It really expanded my world because he wasn’t in my industry too. It was like, ‘Oh my God. Have you ever seen Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown? And have you ever seen Studio Ghibli films?’ He just really expanded my references.”

Through her candid revelations, Cabello provided a heartfelt glimpse into a formative time in her life, highlighting the impact of her first serious relationship on her personal growth and experiences.
