Bob Dylan has been making great music for over 50 years; and recently in the news in a second-hand way, as Grammy nominated singer and songwriter Joan Osborne has a new LP called ‘The Songs of Bob Dylan’ out, keeping Robert top of mind.
Robert Allen Zimmerman was born May 24, 1941, and was one of the founders of early 60s Folk Music at a turbulent time with the raging Vietnam War and racial strife, and popular music took an entirely different route.
Bob has already been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the National Songwriters Hall of Fam Bob has also written six books of painting and drawings since 1994.
The original lyrics of his classic song “Like a Rolling Stone” was 20 pages long. He realized he needed to pare down the words although it’s still a long song.
Bob has also been honored with a Special Medal of Freedom award presented by President Barack Obama a few years ago, earning the coveted honor as an American Icon.
