Beatles Hair Sold At Auction for Thousands

You may have seen news that the Beatles now have their own channel on satellite – it’s great news if you love the ‘Fab Four.’ Here’s an odd question though… Do you love the Beatles so much that you would pay over $10,000 for a lock of each of the boy’s hair?

All four Beatles donated a piece of their hair in 1964 as part of a promotion for the film ‘Hard Day’s Night,’ and it’s been privately held for over 50 years by the studios makeup artist John O’Gorman. Well, John decided to auction off the hair a few weeks ago at a Catawiki auction.

George Harrison’s hair sold for nearly $3,000, Ringo’s for just under $3,000, John’s for some reason went for the smallest amount, just under $1,500, while Paul’s hair was auctioned off for the most at over $3,000. Whose musician hair has fetched the most amount of money in an auction? Elvis Presley had a lock of hair auctioned off for six figures a decade ago. The most expensive hair auctioned off was that of Napoleon.
